Week in Review: Road Paving, Muppets and This Week's Look Around Little Neck

A look back at the notable events of the past week.

Happy Sunday, Little Neck. Here's a look back at what happened this week:

On Tuesday, Community Board 11 Chairman Jerry Iannece told Patch that he is considering a bid for David Weprin’s Albany seat should the assemblyman defeat Republican Bob Turner in this fall’s special election to replace former U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner.

We also heard from various local leaders on the implications that potential national default could have on residents of northeast Queens.

Here's what State Sen. Tony Avella, D-Bayside, and City Councilman Dan Halloran, R-Whitestone had to say, and here's what Jerry Iannece, Chairman of Community Board 11 and Warren Schreiber, President of the Bay Terrace Community Alliance had to say as well. Spoiler alert: The words "devastating" and "catastrophic" were used in abundance.

If you're interested in meeting the man behind the muppets, consider visiting the Museum of the Moving Image between now and Jan. 16, where "Jim Henson's Fantastic World" exhibit is on display.

On Wednesday, we kicked off the first in a series of columns on biking around Little Neck. Read it here, and come back on Wednesday afternoons to see what terrain we've covered.

Community Board 11 Chairman Jerry Iannece is less than pleased by the DOT's decision to pave Marathon Parkway, rather than the more damaged stretch of Northern Boulevard between Alley Pond Environmental Center and Douglaston Parkway. Especially vexing to Iannece is the fact that the community board was not consulted before road was paved, and now funding for the area's road repair has been used up for the year.

And finally, this week's "" is the Adriance Farm House located at the Queens Farm Museum.
