Week in Review

The first week of the new year was a busy one for news.

Councilman Dan Halloran, R-Whitestone, called for the Manhattan district attorney to drop charges against a tourist who attempted to check a gun for which she was licensed at Ground Zero.

Fairway Market donated 10 percent of the profits it made Thursday afternoon to a scholarship fund for the daughters of a city police officer who was slain in the line of duty.

The National Art League kicked off its annual student exhibition and Community Board 11 discussed a recently removed bus stop in Douglaston and hydrofracking during its first meeting of 2012.

Douglaston’s Fairway Market announced that it would it made between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Jan. 5 to the family of Peter Figoski, an officer who was shot while responding to a Brooklyn robbery.

Tuesday

Councilman Dan Halloran calls on Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance to who was arrested after attempting to check her gun while visiting the 9/11 Memorial.

Wednesday

CB 11 tells attendees that the it removed at Douglaston Parkway and Northern Boulevard, but that board members were unsure when it would happen. The board also discussed hydrofracking following a visit by U.S. Rep. Bob Turner, R-Forest Hills, who showed some support for the process.
