It was a busy (and slightly less sweltering) week in Douglaston.

Former Mayor Ed Koch endorsed Republican Bob Turner, prompting a response from state Assemblyman David Weprin, D-Little Neck. Both candidates are running for former U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner's seat.

Community Board 11 Chairman Jerry Iannece announced he was planning a run for Weprin's seat should the assemblyman get elected to Congress.

Monday

Ed Koch endorses in the race for Weiner's seat and David Weprin's campaign . Reviews in This Week at the Movies included "Captain America: The First Avenger," "Another Earth" and "The Myth of the American Sleepover."

Tuesday

State Sen. Tony Avella, D-Bayside, presented a proclamation to Patrick Holtkamp, who retired as rector of Zion Episcopal Church. According to a report, the Zadroga Bill's funds will not be available for cancer patients. 

CB 11's Chairman Jerry Iannece said he would run for David Weprin's seat if the state assemblyman defeats Bob Turner in the race for Anthony Weiner's seat.

Northeast Queens leaders spoke to Patch about the debt ceiling and the possibility of a national default.

Wednesday

Sen. Avella proposed a bill to reduce driver's license renewal fees for seniors, while Iannece called on the city's DOT to upgrade a portion of Northern Boulevard between Alley Pond Environmental Center and Douglaston Parkway.

Thursday
