Monday

Tuesday
Community Board 11 votes unanimously in favor of naming a section of parkland along Douglaston Parkway after late community activist Joseph Hellman. Also, popular neighborhood eatery The Douglaston Market is shuttered.

Wednesday
Douglaston native Paul Karmas is drafted by the San Diego Padres and state Sen. Tony Avella, D-Bayside, hands out signs to district residents to prevent unsolicited advertising materials from being left on lawns. 

Thursday
At its first meeting of the year, the Douglaston Civic Association discusses everything from the upcoming green market and Fairway Market to a plan to create a six-story building with 27 units along Douglaston Parkway.

Friday
