UPDATE: Tylenol Brand Not Recalled From Drug Store Chain CVS

Some stores will no longer carry the pain reliever.

Editor's Note: In the original story, Patch stated that Tylenol had been recalled, but has since learned that the information provided by a pharmacist at a local CVS was incorrect. Please read the information below for clarification.

Update: Jan. 17, 8:50 a.m:

"McNeil Consumer Healthcare continues to work in partnership with CVS to expand the availability of Tylenol and Extra Strength Tylenol in their stores," the statement read. "We expect that recent changes to CVS’s store planning approach will make these two products more available to more consumers overall."

"We encourage consumers to use the product locator on Tylenol.com to help find product in their area," they added.

If you pop in to  CVS looking for Tylenol and can no longer find a bottle, the reason might be more complicated than your branch simply selling out.

The drugstore chain has changed how it stocks Tylenol at its stores in the wake of manufacturing problems at the drug's maker, Johnson & Johnson, that have disrupted supplies for more than three years, the New York Daily News reports.

Under the new plan, CVS will try to have Tylenol in stores in each market, but will "not have it in every store," spokesman Michael DeAngelis told the News.

Local pharmacists say that the CVS brand equivalent is still available in stores as are many other over-the-counter medications that address the same issues.

In northeast Queens, CVS can be found at the following locations:

  • 212-20 Northern Blvd., Bayside
  • 242-24 Northern Blvd., Douglaston

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

Unfortunately, according to the Douglas Manor Association, the fresh fruit and vegetable market willRead More NOT return this year. No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
