Thunderstorm Could Produce 40 MPH Winds

Beware of lightning, strong wind in today's rainstorms.

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for parts of Queens and New York City. 

At just before 8 a.m. a strong thunderstorm was recorded with winds of up to 40 miles per hour expected.

The storm is also likely to produce heavy rain and lightning strikes. Up to an inch of rain is expected as a result of ongoing storms, as well.
