Week In Review: Occupy Wall Street, Little Neck Lions and Fairway Market

The Little Neck Long Island Railroad's much maligned median will again be the central topic of conversation at the . This time, though, residents can accomplish more than just idle kvetching: Maura McCarthy, borough commissioner for the city's Department of Transportation, will be in attendance to hear resident's concerns, and hopefully do something about them.

Wednesday was the long-awaited opening of the in Douglaston, where shoppers gathered under a cloudy sky for the chance to be the first in the doors once the ribbon was cut. 

The Little Neck-Douglaston Community Ambulance Corps launched its semi-annual fund drive last week, sending fliers to roughly 30,000 homes throughout the area. The survival of the ambulance corps depends on donations from residents, said Louis Calderon, the organization's president. Read more about the corps and how to donate .
