Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Queens

Urban Flood Advisory also issued

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Queens, to last until 3:30 p.m. 

A band of rainfall producing as much as an inch of rain per hour was moving across the area at 2:50 p.m.  

The service has also issued an Urban Flood Advisory for areas with poor drainage until 3:45 p.m. Expect highways and streets to be flooded.

The Services advises drivers not to drive on flooded roadways, as "most flooding deaths occur in automobiles." They advise drivers to turn around to find an alternate route.
