Patch Asks: Have You Done Your Holiday Shopping?

Some people have been done for months; others haven't started. Neither group will ever understand the other.

There are two types of people in this world: The kind who begin their holiday shopping in May, complete it by mid-June, and have the final bows tied by the early days of August. The subsequent four months are dedicated to a strict regimen of boasting and casting pitying gazes upon the less organized. Which is to say, everyone else.

Then there are those who, despite frenzied warnings from friends, neighbors and the entire advertising industry, float unburdened by thoughts of shopping through the month of December, straight up until mid-afternoon on Dec. 24. Gifts from these people tend to be culled from such establishments as Duane Reade and the closets of their own homes, where unopened packages of socks are repurposed as stocking stuffers and a hastily-wrapped box of allergy medication will be the day's pièce de résistance.

So which camp do you fall into? Have your gifts been wrapped and under the tree since Labor Day? Or are you convinced that you've still got plenty of time, thank you very much?
