A few items that are good to have around the house for expecting moms who will soon be giving birth are a sleep pillow, lots of water, an emergency contact, a packed hospital bag and cash on hand in case she needs to get to the hospital via taxi or car service.

Outside of all the necessary baby items - crib, clothes, bottles, diapers etc.,  some other essentials for the first few weeks include: a first aid kit, thermometer, pain relievers (for both baby and mom), nasal aspirator (usually given to you at the hospital), a humidifier or vaporizer, baby monitor, breast pump, nursing pads, bottle warmers, car seat, stroller and lots of bleach free delicate laundry detergent.
