2. In the wake of an incident in an East River tunnel maintained by the national passenger rail carrier that snarled the commutes of thousands last week, Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., told Amtrak Thursday that Long Island Railroad passengers needed to be "its highest priority."
3. In case you missed it: Queens Library announced this week that it would eliminate hundreds of positions across the system, including a few jobs in Little Neck-Douglaston.

4. Organizers announced July 10 as the date of this year's Tour de Queens. Last year, the route ran through Flushing, Fresh Meadows, Queens Village, Douglaston, Little Neck and Bayside. This year's route is TBD.
