Jubilation across the city and nation as word of the death of Osama bin Laden spreads across the globe

Just as it was with the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, all of us may one day remember where we were on May 1, 2011 when word of the death of Osama bin Laden spread like wildfire around the world. 

So with no further ado, here's your 5 Things on this day of jubilation and (hopefully) closure for the living victims of a tragedy that will live on forever:

1. In addition to local reaction to the news of Bin Laden's death in a raid in Pakistan, we've got of celebrations from Times Square to Ground Zero.

The early word from police commissioner Ray Kelly on the U.S. Navy Seals raid that ended the life of the world's most wanted terrorist: "The death of Osama Bin Laden is a welcome milestone  for the friends and families of those killed on 9/11, and for all who remain tenaciously engaged in protecting New York from another attack."

And from Chris Ward, executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey: "In light of the events that are unfolding, the Port Authority has directed its police to increase its presence at all Port Authority facilities, including the World Trade Center site, and to coordinate with local, state and federal law enforcement as required."
