March 10: Commuter Vans Along LNP Scrapped — For Good, This Time

Report this a.m. that city Taxi and Limousine will not restart private service sought to 'replace' Q79 bus line

Good morning, Little Neck! The Daily News reports this morning that the city Taxi and Limousine Commission will not restart commuter van service along Little Neck Parkway from the Long Island Railroad mainline station in Floral Park to Little Neck.

The service, which began along LNP after the Metropolitan Transportation Authority axed the Q79 line, had been the due to poor signage and a lack of communication among the public regarding its exact route.

The TLC suspended the van program on Dec. 30. At the time, the TLC hinted the service .

"The MTA bus is the gold standard," Yassky said at a Community Board meeting Nov. 8. "All we are trying to do is create options in places where there aren't enough options."

If today's report holds, it looks like even that alternative "option" is off the table for Little Neck area residents.
