UPDATE: Long Island Rail Road Service Delays

MTA relased a service advisory for LIRR's Port Washington Line.

Update, 8:42 p.m.: MTA now reports that there are currently no delays to service on LIRR's Port Washington line. Be sure to check back with Patch tomorrow morning for an update on the morning LIRR commute.   

Ed. Note: As of 6 p.m. on Tuesday, MTA announced delays to service along the Long Island Railroad's Port Washington Line. Delays are due to a New Jersey Transit train derailment near Penn Station and commuters should anticipate some cancellations, track changes and delays during this evening's rush hour.

NJ Transit and Amtrak will be sharing tracks 15 and 16 at Penn Station this evening as part of an effort to route their trains around the derailment. The LIRR will provide regular LIRR service from Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn and Hunterspoint Avenue in Queens.

Several Port Washington trains may be canceled this evening due to a NJ Transit derailment in Penn Station. NJ Transit and Amtrak will be using Tracks 15 & 16, which normally are used by the LIRR. Here is the list of affected Port Washington Branch trains:

The 5:26 PM train from Penn to Port Washington (6:04 PM) is canceled; Customers will be accommodated by the 5:29 PM train to Great Neck, which will continue to Port Washington.

The 5:50 PM train from NY to Great Neck (6:19 PM) is canceled; customers will be accommodated by the 5:56 PM train to Great Neck.

Please listen for announcements about track changes, as trains will not be leaving from their usual tracks.
