Little Neck: Your Week In Review

Courageous cops, development discourse and art appreciation among last week's highlights

It's a rather wet, near-winter wonderland out there tonight, Little Neck. Which means it's a perfect time to cozy up near the fireplace, wood-stove or space heater and revisit the stories from the week that was in our slice of the borough.

Monday

It was another bout of bad news for Little Neck workers as word of the  of the city's Off Track Betting locations — including one at the corner of Northern and Little Neck Parkway — hit the street.

Wednesday

The 111th Precinct honored Officers Brian Corso and Billy Tsiovas for their quick thinking and courageous action in on a dark street in Little Neck last month.

Thursday

We covered a meeting held the day before between community leaders and the new owners of the former Leviton manufacturing facility on LNP. Community Board chairman 11 Jerry Iannece, who was present at the meeting, about the developers intentions in regards to the eight-acre property.

Friday

An educator from the Modern Museum of Art's Community Access Program paid a visit to the seniors at the Samuel Field Y. gives a glimpse of the power of art to engage even those battling different stages of Alzheimer's disease.
