Tragedy marks end of eventful couple of days in and around the neighborhood

It was a week marked by tragedy, both abroad and here at home.

In Brooklyn, Officer Alain Schaberger, 42, a 10-year veteran of the New York Police Department,  this morning from a stair railing after being pushed by an emotionally disturbed man.

And in Japan, the death toll from a destructive 9.0 earthquake and resulting tsunami continued to mount as concerns deepened over a string of failures at the island nation's nuclear facilities.

An elderly passenger was injured as a result of a crash that onlookers said was caused by another vehicle along Horace Harding Expressway in Little Neck.
