Library's March Programs Focus on Health, Children's Programming

Douglaston Chapter Also Hosts Buy A Book Initiative Amid Funding Cuts

Queens Library at Douglaston/Little Neck is the place to enrich your life in the month of March and we want to help you make it a healthy one.  

The library, located at 249-01 Northern Blvd. in Douglaston, is offering special free events that will teach you how to keep the family safe and in good health. On March 4 and 11, we will offer the AARP Driver Safety Course from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., while on March 15, the library will provide its Secondhand Smoke Workshop at 3 p.m.

The Queens Safe Kids Presents ‘Pedestrian Safety’ program will be held at 3 p.m. on March 17.

Are you eagerly awaiting that great new best seller? Queens Library has been forced to stop buying new books for the rest of this year due to budget shortfalls.

Please join the Friends of the Douglaston Library and take part in the Buy A Book initiative for your community library. You may donate any amount, large or small, and a new book will go on the shelves for everyone to share.

If you donate $25 or more to the library, a personalized bookplate inscribed bearing your name. If you prefer, visit the Buy A Book website. Our Friends of the Library does a lot to strengthen the community. Their next meeting is March 10 at 9:00 a.m. You are cordially invited.

In addition to books, videos and other materials to borrow, your Queens Library has a full calendar of programs for all ages.  

On March 7, 14, 21 and 28, the library will offer Basic Computer Skills training at 10 a.m. The Knitting and Crochet Club will be held at 4 p.m. on those same days.

The Douglaston-Little Neck Library will host its Mother Goose Time reading program for children, ages nine to 24 months, on March 2, 9, 16 and 23 at 10:30 a.m.

There will also be AARP tax assistance programs for seniors on every Wednesday of the month, from noon to 4 p.m.

Every Friday, the library holds its Toddler Time program, which is aimed at children, ages two to three-and-a-half years, at 10:15 a.m.

On March 29, we will offer a Great Music from the 30s to 70s concert at 2 p.m. that will feature Edward Lee Isaacs and Friends.
