It’s not too late to find a perfect gift to show dad how much you care. Patch has compiled a list of local businesses where you can find sales, specials and great Father’s Day gifts.

Here is our Last Minute Father’s Day Gift Guide:

The Douglaston Club

600 West Drive, Douglaston

is hosting its annual Father’s Day barbecue from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Guests will pay $39.95 per person.

General Manager John Veneziano said the event would include a huge spread with salads, hot dishes and a carving station, where dad can pick up a cowboy rib-eye steak.

Attendees will also be able to take a dip in the club’s pool or play tennis.

Those interested in attending the barbecue should reserve in advance by calling 718-229-3900. This event is for Douglaston Club members only.

Macy’s

242-02 61st Avenue, Douglaston Shopping Plaza

According to Macy’s website, popular gift items for Father’s Day this year include Ralph Lauren shirts and shorts, Geoffrey Beene shirts, ties and suits, luggage, fragrances, leather strap watches, sunglasses from Oakley, Steve Madden and Cole Haan and the USA Olympic 2012 collection.

Modell’s Sporting Goods

242-02 61st Avenue, Douglaston Shopping Plaza

sales include $15 for FILA tennis shorts, t-shirts and cargo shorts, $10 for swimming shorts and men’s striped polo t-shirts, $10 for basketball shorts and $20 for mix and match t-shirts.

In addition, the store is offering 25 percent off on men’s loose and fitted training shirts and shorts as well as 20 percent off Adidas slides and sandals.

Dinner Out

A number of local restaurants are offering Father’s Day specials for those dads who would prefer a meal rather than a gift.

, located at 42-15 235th St. in Douglaston, is offering a $29.95 dinner that will include a platter of Memphis-style dry rubbed spare ribs, hand-sliced brisket and barbecue chicken with flights of beer or bourbon. Make reservations by calling 718-517-8787.

Uncle Jack’s Steakhouse, located at 39-40 Bell Blvd. in Bayside, is giving out $25 gift cards for Father’s Day patrons, while Bourbon Street, located at 40-12 Bell Blvd., has holiday brunch specials at $19.95 to $21.95.

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
