Last Chance: Glaucoma Screening, Job Fair and Lien Sale

Attend career workshops at the Central Queens Y, get a free glaucoma screening and prevent the sale of a lien on your property.

Time always seems to be running out, doesn't it? There's no need to worry. Just drop by Douglaston-Little Neck Patch on Tuesdays for weekly reminders of important looming dates and deadlines.

Here are some important ones to keep in mind this week:

Free Glaucoma Screening

U.S. Rep. Bob Turner, R-Forest Hills, will be holding a free glaucoma screening on May 21 at Middle Village’s Walgreens, located at 80-11 Eliot Ave. The screenings will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. No appointment is necessary.

Job Fair

The Central Queens Y will host a on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through its Connect to Care program.

Potential employers will be taking part in the event, so attendees should bring copies of their resume.

Prevent the Sale of a Lien on Your Property

The city will hold its annual lien sale on May 17. A lien is a legal claim against real property for unpaid property taxes, water, sewer or other property charges as well as the interest due on these taxes and charges.

To prevent the sale of a lien on your property, you must pay the debt or enter into a payment agreement by May 17.
