Last Chance: Council Member for a Day Contest

The deadline is coming up for submitting an entry to Councilman Mark Weprin's contest.

Local students interested in participating in Councilman Mark Weprin's Council Member for a Day contest must submit an essay no later than Jan. 22.

The contest is intended for students in grades five through eight. The winner will travel to City Hall, meet other City Council members, sit for an interview with a reporter and review constituent concerns.

Those interested in taking part in the contest should send in a composition of no more than 500 words on the topic "Why I Love Queens County."

In the piece, the student should describe places in the borough they have visited, foods they have sampled or anything else they love about Queens.

Each entry should include the student's full name, address, telephone number, school, grade and class. Entries should be submitted to the councilman's office, which is located at 73-03 Bell Blvd., Oakland Gardens, NY 11364 or emailed to MWeprin@council.nyc.gov.
