Jan. 12: City Nixes Snow Day

Despite blanket of about 7.5 inches across northeast Queens, no snow day for city public schoolchildren

According to the city Department of Education, city public schools will operate as scheduled today — despite an average of about a half-foot of snow dropped as a result of the storm.

1. While schools are open today, check back with Little Neck Patch on the status of PSAL events and after school school events — expected to be announced by city DOE around 10 a.m.

2. Many parochial schools, including Divine Wisdom Academy in Douglaston and Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Bayside, are today due to the snow.

3. Alternate side parking rules, trash and recycling pickup suspended until further notice. No need to feed those meters, folks.
