Hydrofracking on the Table for Tuesday's BHCA meeting

Sen. Tony Avella and Alley Pond Environmental Center's education director will be on-hand to discuss the technique.

State Sen. Tony Avella, D-Bayside, and ’s education director will discuss at the Bayside Hills Civic Association’s meeting tonight at 8 p.m.

The meeting will be held at Bayside’s Colonial Church, located at Bell Boulevard at the intersection of Luke Place and 216th Street.

Guest speakers will include Avella and Ailene Euler, Alley Pond’s education director.

Hydrofracking is a technique in which a mixture of water and sand is forced down an oil well in order to create fractures in the oil-bearing rock and thus release more oil.

Avella has introduced legislation that would ban the use of hydraulic fracturing.

Attendees will also hear updates from the 111th Precinct.

The meeting will also include raffles and refreshments.
