Heaven On Earth: The Rebirth of the Community Church of Douglaston's Cottage
Check out the newly refurbished Community Church of Douglaston this Saturday.
and the are hosting a tour on Oct. 15 of the church's refurbished "cottage," which dates back to 1850 and acts as the house of worship's parsonage.
The free event will include tours of the cottage, the church’s upgraded Alice Greenlaw Memorial Organ, its garden, chapel and sanctuary.
The event will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Rev. Linden DeBie is the first pastor to live in the cottage for more than 80 years following a recent upgrade project to save the home, which had fallen into disrepair.
The house is considered an important component of the Douglaston Historic District Extension, but has still not been designated by the city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission, said Stuart Hersh, of the historical society.
