Great Escape: The Statue of Liberty
Spend the day with 'Lady Liberty' before she closes for a facelift.
Calling all the tired, the poor, the huddled masses and tourists—there are still over nine weeks left until October 29, when the Statue of Liberty will close its doors temporarily for her 125 year anniversary makeover.
And though tickets to all of the crown tours have already been reserved, there's still plenty of opportunity to at least look inside the 'not-so-new colossus,' one last time, before she shuts for some much needed repairs.
A centennial gift given to America by the French to celebrate the enduring friendship between our two nations, today 'Lady Liberty' has grown to symbolize the freedom and democracy of the United States.

Still, far too few New Yorkers have actually been to visit her, even though she's one of the city's most popular tourist activities.
So plan a visit to 'Liberty Island' today, before it's too late and you have to wait until after the statue's $27 million renovation project is completed, to see one of New York's most sought after views.
