Great Escape: The Flying Trapeze

Flying high on Manhattan's Westside

If the past couples weeks have you feeling wired, then today's Great Escape was made for you — the outdoor flying trapeze classes taught at Pier 40 in Manhattan.

A uniquely New York activity, students get a never before seen glimpse of New York City and Statue of Liberty all while sailing through the air, not quite with the greatest of ease, but definitely with a smile on their face.

Dedicated to bringing the art of flying trapeze to almost anyone interested, the Flying Trapeze School of New York creates a safe, fun, challenging environment where students test the bounds of gravity and share a few laughs.

Each class is about 2 hours long, taught in groups of up to 10, and first-timers flyers will get a chance to learn the always graceful knee-hang before trying their luck at the catch.

All with no prior experience required.
