Thursday's event at the Samuel Field Y seeks to break down barriers between young and old

Good morning, Little Neck! With the whiff of change constantly hanging over our neighborhood of late, it can feel that there is an ever-widening gap between the of a Little Neck long past and the emerging voices of the future.

On Thursday at 11:30 a.m., looks to change all that, with the center's Alzheimer Program teaming up with Americorps to kickoff its Intergenerational Program to help area seniors experiencing memory loss. Children from P.S. 115 in Glen Oaks will be on hand to entertain their elders — proving yet again that we're all at our best when helping each other.

1. In Bayside, concerns continue to accumulate regarding a proposed bike lane for Bell Boulevard and other major thoroughfares. Yesterday, a regular bike commuter weighed in on the issue of safety in a direction you might not have guessed at

2. From city leaders yesterday came this interesting 21st-century feature that may change the way construction sites are labeled from now on. The Department of Buildings will introduce 'Quick Response' codes to existing information posted at the sites, allowing Smartphone users to scan and get more detailed information on the work being done.
