Good morning, Little Neck! So far, this week proves that whenever a door closes (hello, !) another one often opens (the impending arrival of ). The one constant in our 'Neck of the woods seems to be change, which makes our 5 Things You Need To Know all the more important. So here goes:

1. In a shocking Winter 2010-11 first, there are currently no active warnings or advisories issued by the National Weather Service for our area — though to be sure, it's still plenty cold out there, folks. Let's call this a case of no news = good news.

2. In a list almost perfectly designed for plugged-in NYC news editors or anyone else with an unhealthy relationship with their Smartphones, check out this rundown of Gotham-centered apps seeking to answer age old questions like, 'Will my train arrive before I turn into a block of ice?' or 'Who is my landlord?'

3. NY1 ran a story yesterday with this interesting stat, courtesy of the city Department of Finance: on the first day of the return of Alternate Side Parking rules this week, the city issued 9,900 parking tickets to motorists who did not move their cars.
