Feb. 1: We Are Tough New Yorkers

Another winter storm barrels through region, Black History Month opens and parenting tips set for later this week

Good morning, Little Neck! Accompanied so far by a coating of new snow and ice, this latest winter storm is hardly or the less famous but no less impactful .

However, this latest snow, ice and sleet event does promise to be yet another inconvenience for winter-weary New Yorkers — many of whom will turn to Little Neck Patch for this quick update on the day ahead:

1. The city Office of Emergency Management warned New Yorkers of today's forecast 3 to 6 inches of snow accompanied by sleet and ice. Use caution when traveling.

2. As of 5:30 a.m., trains on the Port Washington line of the Long Island Railroad were not experiencing delays, according to the MTA's Web site.

3. Alternate side parking rules are suspended in order to facilitate snow removal.

4.  kicks off at Nassau Community College, with professor Kermit Frazier discussing historical and contemporary contributions of African Americans to literature.
