Dining Out on Thanksgiving

Several northeast Queens eateries are serving Thanksgiving meals and one deli can deliver a full-course feast to your home.

Still have no plans for Thanksgiving? There’s no need to worry as several local eateries are remaining open and offering specials for the holiday.

Ben’s Delicatessen, 211-37 26th Ave. in Bayside

This Bayside deli will remain open, but is also delivering to Queens residents. For $189.99, Ben’s will deliver a full Thanksgiving feast to your door that includes an entrée, accompaniments and side dishes for the entire family.

Those who drop by can pay $21.99 for a roast turkey dinner and $9.99 for a kids’ turkey feast.

Giardino, 44-37 Douglaston Parkway

This restaurant will offer a prix fixe menu. For $45, visitors will get a three-course meal with an anti-pasta, entrée, such as turkey, and coffee or tea.

Il Toscano, 42-05 235th St. in Douglaston

This Italian eatery will offer seven entrees for Thanksgiving, including free range roast turkey, fresh roast ham, roast rack of lamb and grilled rib eye. All entrees will be served with the traditional family style trimmings, such as whipped potatoes, sweet potato and cauliflower gratin and mushroom and sausage stuffing.

Appetizers will include butternut squash soup, fresh mozzarella Caesar salad and fried calamari. The meal will be $49.50 per person and $17.95 per child.

Terrace Diner, 212-97 26th Ave. in Bayside

This Bayside eatery will serve a roast turkey special with soup, salad, vegetable, dessert, coffee and wine for $24.95 The last seating is at 3 p.m.

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

Unfortunately, according to the Douglas Manor Association, the fresh fruit and vegetable market willRead More NOT return this year. No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
