1. Yesterday, of the fighting heroes of old. Today, we have a story on the courageous action and quick-thinking of two 111th Precinct officers who collared two men suspected of breaking into dozens of cars from Bayside to Suffolk County in Little Neck last month.

2. More layoffs in Little Neck: at the stroke of midnight Tuesday, workers at the Off Track Betting on Northern Boulevard lost their jobs after the  a reorganization plan to save the troubled gaming corporation.
