Dec 28th: Five Things You Need To Know Today

Greetings, friends of Little Neck. Like the great General Douglas MacArthur once said when he sailed the Pacific to liberate the Philippine Islands,  "I have returned."

Looking back in time, military history buffs will appreciate that on this day during World War 2, Rear Admiral Ben Moreell requested permission to form the U.S Navy Seabees, which became known as construction battalions - to build and fight for the Navy and Marine Corps.

Today is also the birthday of General MacArthur's second wife that traveled with him to the island of Corregidor, Jean Marie Faircloth, who was born in Nashville, Tennesse 1898.
