Dec. 13: In Memoriam

A salute to the late Arthur Kelley, founding member of Udalls Cove Preservation Committee

The true value of a life can be almost impossible to quantify. For many, the people they have touched in small and big ways, including their colleagues, friends and family, best marks one's passage through the years.

For others, it is the sum total of their achievements in life: the awards, accolades, the work they have performed out of a desire for riches, fame and, most importantly, a passion to leave the world different than the way one found it.

Arthur Kelley, who died Dec. 6 at age 86, seemed to have both — the love of friends and family, as well as a lasting legacy as founder of a pioneering effort to clean up Little Neck Bay.
