Community Church Concert Series to Debut on Oct. 2

Douglaston house of worship to host five performances, including a violin player and a jazz-folk group.

The will host five musical performances during the next seven months as part of its First Sunday Concert series.

The house of worship, located at 39-50 Douglaston Parkway, will kick off the series on Oct. 2 with Amadi Azikiwe, who plays viola and violin. He will be accompanied by two piano players and two Mezzo Sopranos, who will sing Brahms songs.

On Nov. 6, The Edna Project will play at the church. The concert will include components of jazz and folk music as well as a visual art performance. The show is based on the poems of Edna St. Vincent Millay.

The church will host a performance on Feb. 5 by Duo Prism, which includes Jesse Mills on violin and Rieko Aizawa on piano.

On March 4, pianist Benjamin Hochman will play at the Community Church, while organ player Scott Montgomery will perform on May 6.

Duo Prism’s concert is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., but all other shows will be held at 4 p.m.

The church will also hold an upcoming open house for “The Cottage,” a house on its property that was recently renovated and now acts as home to Rev. Linden DeBie.
