Looking for a summer job and a way to keep fit?
The Department of Parks and Recreation is looking for lifeguards to man the city’s pools and beaches.
Lifeguards work 48 hours each week and first-year lifeguards will earn a minimum of $13.57 an hour, for a weekly salary of more than $650.
City beaches are open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day and pools are open from late June through Labor Day.
Prospective lifeguards (at least 16 years of age), must pass a qualifying swim and vision test, and if accepted, must then complete a training program, which involves 40 hours of classes, CPR training and a final swim test.
More information on the program can be found here.
