A (Slightly Late) Week in Review

A look back at the notable events of the past week.

If last week had a theme, it was the crippling, miserable and otherwise devastating heat.

On Tuesday, the blazing heat got the best of some stores in Little Neck Plaza, which lost power after an electrical wire burnt up. Though firefighters on the scene didn't know the official cause behind the singed fuse, they speculated it had to do with one too many air-conditioners running at full blast.

The worst of the heat is hopefully over, but nevertheless, Con-Edison has some tips on how to effectively keep your home cool without squandering tons of energy.

The Dept. of Health issued a warning on Thursday that West Nile Virus has been detected in Bay Terrace. So far, no such warning has been issued for Little Neck.

Students of the Aschan Studio of Art are displaying their work at Art@Renaissance, a studio located in a former hospital space in the basement of St. Nick's Alliance in Williamsburg. Check out our photos, or check out the exhibit itself at 2 Kingsland Avenue at Maspeth Avenue in Brooklyn.
