5 Things You Need to Know Today

Today's Highlights Include Stories on One of Albany's New Faces and Sandhill Road

Douglaston Patch is heading into its first full week and it's going to be a busy one. Today, we'll feature a profile of state Assemblyman-elect Edward Braunstein as well as a story on a road between Douglaston and Little Neck that is causing a headache for both neighborhoods. 

Make sure to visit us throughout the week to read stories about the long-awaited upgrade of Shore Road and the community's effort to have the historic names of several Douglaston streets restored.

3. Visit Queensborough Community College's Kupferberg Holocaust Center at 1 p.m. for the lecture "The Sunflower: On the Possibilities and Limits of Forgiveness by Simon Wiesenthal."

4. Benjamin N. Cardozo eighth and ninth graders should put on their dancing shoes and try out for the school's Performing Dance Program from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

5. Don't forget to drop in on the National Art League's , which takes place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The work of 86 local artists will be on display.
