Vivaldi to Open at Former Patrizia's Site in June

New concessionaire will operate restaurant and banquet hall, according to Parks Department spokesman.

Vivaldi will be the fourth restaurant in four years to operate at the former Caffe on the Green site when it opens next month.

George Makkos, of 123 Restaurant Group, will operate a restaurant at the site’s first floor and have a banquet room for events on its second floor, a spokesman for the city’s Parks Department said. The eatery is in the process of obtaining a liquor license.

Makkos will take over as concessionaire for the site, located at 201-10 Cross Island Parkway in Bayside, and assume the 15-year agreement of its previous operators that will expire in 2025.

Vivaldi will replace Patrizia’s, a pizzeria that closed down less than a year after its debut. The site previously housed Valentino’s on the Green, which was named after silent film star Rudolph Valentino, who once owned a home on the property.

Valentino’s had replaced Caffe on the Green, a popular restaurant and catering hall that was shuttered in 2009.

Makkos also co-owns Battery Gardens, Venetian Yacht Club and Terrace on the Park.

Details on Vivaldi’s hours of operation and menu have yet to be finalized, the Parks spokesman said. The eatery is expected to debut sometime in June.
