This Week In Little Neck Gas Prices

Pain at the pump intensifies as political pressure grows on elected leaders to act

It seems that everyone — from the president of the U.S. on down — is feeling the heat on the issue of skyrocketing fuel prices.

In Albany, state Sen. Tony Avella, D-Bayside, said he plans to propose to reduce gas taxes to provide some relief for motorists and to investigate the controversial practice of for a gall0n of gas.

In Washington, D.C., both sides of the aisle are trading barbs about whether renewable energy investment or a renewed push for domestic oil and natural gas exploration is the answer.

Meanwhile, drivers in northeast Queens are stuck with few good options for public transportation, waiting for some relief from high gas prices from above.

Citywide, the average price of a gallon of regular rose close to 10 cents over the past week to $4.272, according to the American Automobile Association's Fuel Gauge Report.
