More than 40 local chefs and 100 food-related businesses participated in the ninth-annual gastronomical jubilee, which took place at CitiField's Caesars Club.

"It's an honor - with such classy people and their food," said Ronnie Strawberry, who is the brother of former Mets slugger, Darryl Strawberry, and acts as public relations for the restaurant. "I've had a lot of different chilis, but when Jay prepared this, I fell in love with it. It's my favorite [dish] at the restaurant."

The grill, which is owned by the former power-hitting outfielder who played 11 seasons and amassed four World Series rings with the Mets and Yankees, opened in August.

The event's taste masters were Marcus Samuelsson, winner of Bravo's "Top Chef Masters, Season Two" and owner of the Red Rooster restaurant in Harlem, and Anita Lo, who was once listed as one of "The 10 Best New Chefs in America" by Food & Wine magazine.

Presented by the Queens Economic Development Corporation, the Taste of the World also honored Sunnyside's Dazies and Bayside's Papazzio as this year's Iconic Restaurants.
