Report: Fired BID Director May Run For The Board

The popular former BID director, who was axed by the Board, is now looking to join it.

Talk about awkward.

Former Director Gregg Sullivan, who was purportedly fired by the board for insubordination, says he'll now run for a seat on the board himself, according to the Daily News.

The BID’s all-volunteer board has fallen out of favor with dozens of business and storefront owners, who splintered off and re-elected the former Executive Director Gregg Sullivan at a meeting a few weeks ago. Meanwhile the board has hired someone new for the job, that the city's Dept. of Small Business Services recognizes as the true director.

“Everybody loved the work I did,” he told the paper, adding. “But I did have problems with the board itself.”

Board President James Riso blamed Sullivan for "stirring the pot," in early May as he organized vent their discontent with BID operations since he was fired.

To the prospect of Sullivan running for a seat on the board, Riso told Patch, "The more the merrier," adding, "He has some good ideas."
