Queens Chamber of Commerce Honors Douglaston Man with Lifetime Achievement Award

Frank Briguglio, Owner of a Neighborhood Real Estate Consulting Firm, Honored at Ceremony

A Douglaston real estate consulting firm owner was honored this week for his life’s work at the Queens Chamber of Commerce’s 98th Annual Building Awards ceremony and reception.

Douglaston resident Frank Briguglio, principal of Briguglio Consulting Corp., was presented with a special lifetime achievement award from the chamber on January 20.

The company, which was started by his father, Frank, as Briguglio Construction, has been a member of the chamber since 1937. The son entered the firm after Army service during the Korean War.

Briguglio’s daughter, Christine, currently runs the day-to-day operations of the business, which now has its headquarters on Northern Boulevard in Douglaston.

“I’m very proud of her. She’s a wonderful daughter and a terrific businesswoman,” he said.

Over the years, Briguglio has won numerous awards from the chamber for construction projects across Queens. The consulting company is an affiliate primarily engaged in real estate management.

Briguglio previously served on the chamber’s Building Awards Committee.

The chamber’s ceremony began with a cocktail reception in the rotunda of Queens Theatre in the Park, where numerous and notable Douglaston residents, including Joseph and Carl Mattone, Queens College President James Muyskens, Gloria Bodie and Briguglio neighbors Marion and Moira Casey, showed their support.

Attendees retired to the Claire Schulman Theatre for the awards presentation after an invocation by Monsignor George J. Ryan of St. Anastasia’s Church, located in Douglaston.

Con Edison’s Carol Conslato, who is the current president of the chamber, and Awards Committee Chair Frank Macchio made welcoming remarks.

In the front row, Briguglio had a prime seat along with his wife of 53 “wonderful” years, Shirley, and immediate family, including several grandchildren.

“He’s been going to these events since before we were married,” Shirley Briguglio said.

When asked what she thought about her husband winning the award, she smiled and quipped, “It’s about time.”

“He really deserves it,” Macchio chimed in.
