Northeast Queens Woman Coaches Clients' Lives

Laura Nack Has Spent 30 Years Helping Others Help Themselves

Certified as a life coach with more than 30 years of mental and behavioral health as well as psychotherapy experience, Bayside's Laura Nack said her passion is helping others find themselves.

“We all have great potential to achieve the life we want to live,” said Laura Nack, who is a life and energy leadership coach. “We sometimes just need something to help bring it out.”

Nack, who operates her business from Bayside, is also involved in Powerful You, which is a Douglaston-based network that focuses on empowering women.

“We are often overloaded with information, feel distracted and pulled in too many directions," she said. "We have difficulty balancing work, life, family and friends and rarely have time for personal enjoyment."

This is where her skills as a life and energy leadership coach come into play. At her Bayside office, Nack consults clients from all backgrounds on both personal and professional matters. Anyone who seeks fulfillment, balance, productivity and more out of life is a viable candidate for coaching.

After working as a psychotherapist for many years, Nack began looking for a more effective way of helping her clients attain their goals and achieve a life of choice and balance.

She transitioned to coaching nearly 12 years ago after realizing how quickly clients reached their goals and benefited from the coaching process.

“In coaching you are the expert in your own life,” Nack said. “The coach is on your side - your champion, asking you questions that get you thinking and helping you move forward.”

While psychotherapy is problem driven and focuses on getting over past events for the long term, coaching concentrates on the present and the future, helping individuals live at their highest level of satisfaction, Nack said.

Unlike psychotherapy, coaching is not a doctor/patient relationship, but is more of a partnership with equal involvement, she said.

Coaches carry a session by asking thought provoking questions based on that client’s lifestyle which, in turn, forces the client to more fully realize their goals.

Nack said there are often internal and external blocks that prevent a person from living the life they want. Through a series of introspective techniques and involvement, the coach and the client develops an “action plan,” which serves as a guide to the client for achieving individual goals.

“People are much more likely to fulfill resolutions when they make their goals known to others, consider their values and develop an action plan,” Nack said. “A professional coach can provide the support and resources needed to achieve your goals quicker and more effectively.”

A little over two years ago, Nack became a master practitioner in a new cutting-edge coaching approach known as "energy leadership," which was developed by Bruce Schneider.

This, like most forms of coaching, is action oriented.

Nack said that everything in life is energy. The way we show up in this world, our internal and external energy and the way we project that energy.  Most of us, however, are unaware of the energy we give off.

“You must first understand who you are as a person, what is important to you and what your values are,” Nack said. “Sometimes, people are not aware of these simple things or they do not realize how negatively they interpret the world around them. As a coach I help change that perspective by exploring what your values are and how you view yourself and the world around you.”

By helping her clients increase their awareness of how to confront different areas of life, they learn to tap into hidden potential that is known in coaching as "positive energy."

“As I evolve, so does my ability to influence and help my clients evolve,” Nack said.

Her office is located at 23-50 Water's Edge Drive, Suite 1E in Bayside.  Appointments are flexible and can be made in-person or via telephone.
