Jersey Shore Party

Johnny Famous goes Jersey-themed

The situation was different than I had expected at Thursday's Jersey Shore Party at J.

While Ronnie's sensitive side glared before the camera during a tearful confessional, Johnny staff was callously firing up the club's mechanical bull.

Club music was playing loudly over dialogue by Snooki and the rest of the cast—maybe by design.

The idea to have a Jersey Shore themed party was a stroke of marketing genius. The fact that nobody watched was immaterial: people were there.

Among early-comers, there was not a bouffant to be found; just jeans, flats and tasteful tops. It wasn't exactly an after-work crowd  just stopping in for a cocktail, but they looked like people who were conscious of the fact that they had work the next morning. They didn't look like they had it in the back of their mind to be carried home—or back to someone else's.

At around 11 p.m., people started moseying in, looking serious about having a party. There was more height supporting the ladies' shoes. All ladies, heels and flats-wearers, were treated to free drinks. Admission was totally democratic to both sexes: free for all.

Food offerings were cheap and enticing. "We've got beef," their menu makes plain to all. A hamburger and side of fries are $8. A beef quesadilla cost the same, as do guacamole and chips. Buffalo chicken wings were 12 for $8, 18 for $11 or 24 for $14. They also have diet-type food like a caesar chicken wrap for $9, or a grilled chicken breast, served with Swiss cheese, avocado and tomato for $8.

I left around midnight to ensure that Bayside Patch would be operational the next morning. Check out our photos, and check back next week for footage.
