FlatRate Moving, Food Bank for NYC Partner to Provide Meals for Queens

FlatRate Moving will pick up and drop off food drive bins at approximately 400 locations throughout the city.

FlatRate Moving and Food Bank for New York City have entered into a partnership that will benefit hundreds of residents across Queens.

As part of the partnership, FlatRate Moving will pick up and drop off Food Drive bins at approximately 400 corporate offices and community centers throughout the city.

"With a $30,000 savings from using FlatRate Moving trucks, the Food Bank will be able to redirect that money for other needs, such as providing 150,000 additional meals to New Yorkers this year," a release on the development said.

FlatRate Moving will also donate 10 percent of the cost of any move booked by a customer who refrences the Food Bank for NYC, up to $20,000, from Oct. 15 through March 15. The moving company will also donate $5 to the Food Bank for every Google + review from past and current FlatRate Moving customers.

“We’ve been a part of New York City for over twenty years. We are thrilled to be able to help the Food Bank for New York City support its mission and give back to our community”, said Sharone Ben-Harosh, founder of FlatRate Moving.

Debbie Kellogg, director of business partnerships at Food Bank for New York City, agreed with Ben-Harosh, saying this development is key to ensuring the Food Bank achieve its goal in feeding New Yorkers in need.

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

Unfortunately, according to the Douglas Manor Association, the fresh fruit and vegetable market willRead More NOT return this year. No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
