Construction Begins at Former Scobee Diner Site

CB 11's district manager says there is still no date set for a Board of Standards and Appeals hearing for the site.

Construction is underway at the former Scobee Diner site on Northern Boulevard in Little Neck.

But Susan Seinfeld, district manager for Community Board 11, said the city's Board of Standards and Appeals has not yet set up a hearing on the as-of-right construction project at the site.

Plans for the former Scobee locale include replacing the diner's building with two-story structure that would have a bank on its first floor and a dentist's office on the second floor.

Last month, CB 11 voted in favor of a variance that would allow accessory parking in a residential section of the site's lot, which is split up between three different zoning districts.

"I think they've ripped up the inside (of the diner," Seinfeld said of work currently going on at the site. "And I've seen people going in and out of the property. But we're still waiting for a date to be set for the (BSA) hearing."
