Beat The Heat With Your Own Emergency Ice Cream Truck

Have you ever stood motionless on a random, empty street on a sweltering day and wished you had a towering cone of soft-serve to ease your pain?

Well, thanks to Uber, the app-based town car service, on July 19, New Yorkers and the denizens of 32 other cities will be able to summon an ice cream truck to appear on demand and save them from the heat wave.
Sound crazy, yet amazing? Just watch the dramatization in Uber's promotional video to witness the ecstatic reactions of two actors rubbing an iPhone like Aladdin's lamp, then licking their frosty treats off into the sunset.

Plus, if you've ever admired your friend's day-glo Uber t-shirt (and who among us hasn't?) the trucks will be handing out swag at every stop.

Fleets of Mister Softee as well as the illustrious Van Leeuwen Artisanal Ice Cream trucks will be participating in the venture. Trucks cost $30 for six people and treats will be billed directly to your Uber account—no cash necessary. But availability will depend upon location and time.

Now, if only so many tweens didn't own smart phones in this city. You might actually be able to snag one.
