Bayside BID to Host Sidewalk Sale, Holiday Lighting Festival on Dec. 8

Event will include a jazz performance, a lighting ceremony and sales along Bell Boulevard.

The Bayside Village Business Improvement District will host a holiday party and lighting ceremony along with its final sidewalk sale of the year this coming weekend.

On Dec. 8, the BID’s fourth sidewalk sale of the fall will run from noon to 5 p.m. along Bell Boulevard from Northern Boulevard to 35th Avenue.

At 6 p.m., the group will host its annual Christmas tree and Menorah lighting ceremony on the north side of the tracks at Bayside’s Long Island Rail Road station.

The event will include a performance by Bayside High School’s Jazz Combo. Light refreshments will be served and Santa Claus will drop by to speak to neighborhood children.

“We want to focus on small businesses,” said Lyle Sclair, the BID’s executive director, of the theme for the event. “Bell Boulevard has always had mom and pop stores, but now we’re seeing songs and daughters taking over their parents’ stores and opening their own shops. We are going to make a big push for the holidays to make sure people know that.”
