Bayside BID to Host Halloween Sidewalk Sale

Event will include rides for children, food and sales.

The Bayside Village Business Improvement District is hoping to scare up some business with its second sidewalk sale on Oct. 27.

The BID’s second sale this fall will be Halloween-themed and will include rides for children, such as a bouncy house, as well as a variety of deals and food from local restaurateurs.

“I think we saw good turnout for the first one and a lot of merchants participated,” said Lyle Sclair, the BID’s executive director, of the September sidewalk sale. “I think this one could be a little bigger because we have events for children and it will be a little more family friendly.”

Rides and activities will be held along 41st Avenue near Bayside’s Long Island Rail Road station from noon to 4 p.m., while the sale will run from noon to 5 p.m.

“We’ll have a little booth set up where we’ll let people know what’s going on in the community,” Sclair said.

Elected officials and local community groups are expected to show up for the event.

The BID will host its third sidewalk sale on Nov. 17, during which holiday lights will be put up along Bell Boulevard.

On Dec. 8, the BID will hold its final sale of the year. Activities at the event relating to Christmas and Hanukkah have yet to be determined.
