Bayside BID Gives Bell Boulevard a New Coat of Paint

New initiative would remove graffiti and repaint street furniture.

The Bayside Village Business Improvement District kicked off a new initiative on Bell Boulevard Monday to remove graffiti and repaint street furniture.

Lyle Sclair, the BID's executive director, said the group had expanded its contract with Atlantic Maintenance, which will now regularly scrape off stickers and remove graffiti from fire call boxes, hydrants and lamp posts as well as add a new coat of paint.

"We wang to make people feel comfortable during the day when they are strolling or getting lunch," Sclair said. "And we want people to know that this is not just a nighttime destination."

Local businesses that want graffiti removed should contact the BID at 718-423-2434.

Drop by Bayside Douglaston Patch later today to watch Sclair discuss the initiative in a video.
