Bayside Bars to Host Pub Crawl to Raise Money for Sandy Victims

Seven bars and restaurants along Bell Blvd., 41st Avenue taking part in Dec. 1 crawl.

Seven Bayside bars and eateries will take part in a pub crawl to support the victims of Hurricane Sandy this weekend.

Registration for the event will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 1 at any of the participating establishments. A $25 donation will pay for a pub crawl T-shirt and drink specials.

Proceeds raised during the event will go to Queens residents affected by Hurricane Sandy.

"This will go to the victims of the Rockaways and Long Beach," said Laura Altimari, who does publicity for Bourbon Street. "They are trying to surpass $5,000. But everything counts towards the relief effort."

Here are the bars and restaurants taking part in the crawl:

Bourbon Street, 40-12 Bell Blvd.

Pour House, 213-11 41st Ave.

C.J. Sullivan’s, 213-10 41st Ave.

Monahan and Fitzgerald, 214-17 41st Ave.

Safari Beach Club, 40-09 Bell Blvd.

Dempsey’s, 39-31 Bell Blvd.

Local, 39-24 Bell Blvd.

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
